User Agreement

A gentle welcome
Kind Light is a private journal for gratitude, self-kindness and quiet reflection — one page a day, until you can look back on a whole year of it. This agreement explains how the app works, what you agree to when you use it, and how we treat your words and images. By creating an account or using Kind Light, you accept these terms.
1. Your account
You sign in with an emailed code or through Google. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone else has accessed your account, please contact us at heartrootjournal@gmail.com straight away. You must be at least 13 years old to use Kind Light, and if you are under 16 you should ask a parent or guardian before signing up.
2. Your content
Everything you write, record or upload — journal entries, reflections, photos and vision board images — belongs to you. You keep all rights to your content. By using Kind Light, you give us permission to store and display your content only so the app can work for you. We never share your content with anyone, and no one else can see it. Your content is protected by row-level security so that only your account can reach it.
Please do not upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or belongs to someone else who has not given you permission. We may remove content that breaches this, though the app is private and we do not actively review your entries.
3. Voice entries
If you choose to speak your journal entry instead of typing it, your audio is sent to a transcription service that turns your spoken words into text. The audio is processed for that purpose and is not stored long-term. The text appears in your entry, which only you can see.
4. Deleting your data
Your entries, photos, vision boards and account are yours to remove at any time. You can delete your entries and photos while keeping your account, or delete your entire account. You can choose to delete immediately or schedule a deletion for 30 days later, during which you can change your mind and keep everything. Once a deletion is carried out, it cannot be undone.
5. Optional support ("Buy me a coffee")
Kind Light offers an optional "Buy me a coffee" link so you can support the developer if you wish. This feature is available on the website and on Android only — it is not offered in the iPhone app. The link opens a Stripe checkout page managed by an external payment provider. Any payment you make is handled entirely by Stripe, under their own terms and privacy policy. Kind Light does not process, store or receive your payment details. Support is voluntary and gives you nothing in return beyond the app you already use — it is simply a kindness.
6. The service
Kind Light is provided as a personal journaling tool. We work to keep it running smoothly, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may update, change or stop parts of the app over time. If we make significant changes to these terms, we will update the date above and do our best to let you know.
7. Limitations of liability
Kind Light is a tool for personal reflection, not professional advice. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on your journal entries. To the fullest extent allowed by law in Queensland, Australia, Kind Light and its developer are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, except where law implies a guarantee that cannot be excluded.
8. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute arising from your use of Kind Light will be resolved in the courts of Queensland.
9. Contact
If you have any questions about this agreement, you can reach us at heartrootjournal@gmail.com. We read every message and will reply as soon as we can.
