Your pages are private to you

Kind Light is built around a simple promise: what you write is yours, and only you can see it. This policy explains what information we collect, how we store it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google, Google shares only your email and name with us.
• Journal content: the reflections, gratitudes, self-kindness notes and free-form journal entries you write or speak.
• Photos: any image you attach to a day or place on a vision board.
• Settings: your colour scheme choice, reminder time and notification preference.

We do not collect tracking data, advertising identifiers, or your location. We do not sell or share your information with advertisers.

How we store and protect your data

Your data is stored securely in a cloud database with row-level security enabled. This means every row of your journal is tied to your account, and the database enforces that only your authenticated session can read or change it — not even the developer can open your pages. Photos are held in private storage, accessible only with a short-lived signed link that your own session generates.

Your colour scheme choice is stored locally in your browser so it remembers your preference between visits.

Voice entries

When you speak a journal entry, the audio is sent to a transcription service that converts your words to text. The audio is processed for transcription and is not kept after the text has been returned to your entry. The resulting text is stored with your journal entry under the same private protections described above.

Third-party services

• Google: used only for sign-in. Google's own privacy policy governs the information Google shares with us — your email and name.
• Stripe: the "Buy me a coffee" link opens a Stripe checkout. This optional support feature is available on the website and on Android only — it is not offered in the iPhone app. Stripe handles the payment entirely; Kind Light never sees or stores your card or payment details.
• Transcription service: processes spoken audio into text, as described above.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you choose to delete your entries and photos, they are removed straight away. When you choose to delete your account, everything — entries, photos, vision boards, settings and your sign-in — is removed. You can also schedule a deletion for 30 days later and change your mind any time before then. Once a deletion is carried out, the data cannot be recovered.

Your choices

You can review, edit or delete your journal entries at any time. You can export your vision board as an image. You can change your colour scheme, reminder settings and name whenever you like. And you can delete some or all of your data from Settings.

Children's privacy

Kind Light is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will change the date above and do our best to let you know within the app. Continued use of Kind Light after a change means you accept the updated policy.
